A 5.8 magnitude earthquake struck eastern Pakistan, causing the death of at least 37 – including women and children - and injuring more than 500 others, many of them seriously, local officials say.
The quake struck the southern Mirpur district of Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK), with tremors being felt in Lahore, Peshawar, and Islamabad. Hundreds of houses have been partially destroyed, and roads have been damaged, while the hospitals in the region have been flooded with victims.
The full extent of the damage is not yet known but we have our teams on the ground undertaking aid assessments, and beginning the distribution of supplies to those most affected by the disaster. But we need your help to ensure we reach as many of those in need as possible.
