Canal Walk for Rohingya Refugees

Want to raise money to help Rohingya refugees who have fled to Bangladesh from Myanmar?

Want to take walk along one of Britain's most historical canals, which formed the backbone of the North's trading routes throughout the Industrial Revolution?

We've got a fantastic fundraising experience for you!

Join us on Saturday 29th July 2023 for our fundraising walk from Apperely Bridge to central Leeds along the historic Leeds - Liverpool Canal. You'll be raising money to help Rohingya refugees in Bangladesh, who have fled persecution on their home country of Myanmar. Find out more about the plight of the Rohingya.

To take part, we're asking you to raise a minimum of:

  • £75 which will provide a family food pack with enough provisions to feed a family of five for one month

or

  • £70 which will provide two months of sponsorship for a Rohingya orphan in Bangladesh

Of course, we'd love you to raise more!

The details

  • When: Saturday 29th June 2023. We'll be meeting at Bradford Interchange foyer at 9:30am to take the 9:42 train to Apperely Bridge. Alternatively, you can meet us at Apperely Bridge station car park (parking is free spaces are plentiful) for a 10:30am start.
  • How long? The walk from Apperely Bridge to Leeds City Station is approximately nine miles. Route is flat, following the path of the canal and we're expecting to take around four hours to complete the walk.
  • What do I need to bring? Wear some good, comfy footwear and bring a waterproof - because British Summertime!
