Bangladesh Emergency Flood Relief

Emergency Fund - Bangladesh Flood

Bangladesh Floods 2026: A nation under water

At least 51 people have died and more than one million people have been affected as torrential monsoon rain triggers flash floods and landslides across Bangladesh.

Homes have been swept away, roads submerged, and entire communities cut off, from the crowded streets of the capital, Dhaka, to the low-lying districts of the south-east.

The crisis is hitting hardest in Cox's Bazar, where more than half of all reported deaths have occurred. This is also home to over a million Rohingya refugees living in the world's largest refugee settlement. Families who fled persecution in Myanmar and are now facing yet another catastrophe, in flimsy shelters with nowhere safe to go.

Thousands of people, both Bangladeshi families and Rohingya refugees, are now sheltering in government relief centres with little more than the clothes they managed to grab as the water rose.

Authorities have warned that further flooding is likely as the monsoon continues to batter the north and north-east of the country.

Bangladesh is no stranger to seasonal flooding but experts are clear that climate change is making these monsoon rains heavier, more erratic, and more dangerous, year after year.

HRF: delivering flood aid in Bangladesh right now

Human Relief Foundation’s Bangladesh operation is on the ground mobilising to deliver life-saving support to families affected by the floods, including:

• Emergency food and non-food item packs

• Emergency tents and temporary shelter for those who have lost their homes

• Hygiene assistance help prevent the spread of disease in overcrowded shelters and flooded areas

• Support for both host communities and Rohingya refugees because in a crisis like this, need doesn't stop at a camp boundary

With floodwaters rising and more rain forecast, families need help now.
