Human Relief Foundation
Over 3 million Palestinian refugees call Lebanon and Jordan home—living without citizenship, often in overcrowded camps where even daily essentials are a luxury. In Lebanon, 12 UNRWA‑recognised camps hold over 448,000 registered refugees, tens of thousands squeezed into dense urban slums like Ain al‑Hilweh (approximately 120,000 today) and Bourj el‑Barajneh (58,000)
In Jordan, more than 2 million Palestinian refugees are registered, with 10 camps, including massive sites like Baqa’a ( around 100,000 residents) and Marka (around 45,000), offering only the bare minimum.
Yet, only about one-third of registered refugees in Jordan and Lebanon live within these camps; many more are scattered in poor urban areas, unseen and underserved.
Our local teams in Lebanon and Jordan are always on the ground providing the vital aid and assistance our refugee brothers and sisters need. Whether that be food aid, medical assistance or shelter, we're ready to provide.
Throughout the year, our UK delivery team - along with UK based volunteers taking part in our international deployment programmes - fly out to Lebanon and Jordan to see first hand what is needed by the Palestinian refugees, look at how best we can help them, and deliver the aid personally. For many taking part in our deployment programmes, it's a chance to see first hand how their fundraising activity provides life changing aid, touching so many.
