Fidyah and Kaffarah

WHAT IS FIDYAH
(& WHEN DO YOU HAVE TO PAY IT)?

If, during Ramadan, you are unable to fast due to poor health, pregnancy or health issues that would be made more acute by fasting, and you can’t make up the lost days, then you’re required to pay for someone else to be fed. This is Fidyah.

HOW MUCH IS FIDYAH?

Fidyah is £4 per day, and £120 for whole of Ramadan (about 30 days). This will pay for two meals for one person, and one meal for two people. You may pay your Fidyah through this page and we’ll use it to serve the needy this Ramadan on your behalf.

“And as for those can fast with difficulty, they have to feed a poor person”
(Qur’an 2:184)

Ramadan Kaffarah Fidyah Human Relief Foundation

WHAT IS KAFFARAH (& WHEN DO YOU HAVE TO PAY IT)?

Kaffarah is the compensation you’re required to pay should you deliberately miss, or break, a fast in the month of Ramadan without a valid reason.

HOW MUCH IS KAFFARAH?

To compensate for any missed or intentionally broken fast during Ramadan, a person must fast continuously for 60 days. If they’re unable to complete this, then they have to feed 60 poor people at a rate of £4 per person (the cost of an average meal in the UK). This amounts to £240 Kaffarah for every missed or intentionally broken fast.

Donate your Fidyah and/or Kaffarah easily on this page, or call our donation hotline 0207 060 4422.
