Focus: Reviewing present project reports; assistance in project proposal writing; management of database entry for reporting; policy research; proofreading (editing and writing); project cycle documentation.
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES
Assisting the International Programmes Department in developing project proposals for humanitarian and development activities (brainstorming, research, proofreading, editing, writing etc.)
Liaising with International Programmes Department and country offices in developing project proposals
Maintaining and updating HRF`s donor mapping (database of all institutional donors, trust and foundation prospects and result)
Providing support in the maintenance of programme records and documentation throughout the project cycle
Identifying lessons learnt and best practices for future proposals and projects
General assistance duties during meetings, talks, lectures and workshops (keeping minutes, following up on tasks, travel arrangements, and office duties)
Shadowing Programmes Department, engaging in and networking with partners, UN agencies, Field Offices, NGOs and other organisations as well as representatives from the community and state level
Understanding and knowledge of international development and humanitarian affairs Knowledge of the Middle East, North or East Africa;
Understanding of the political environment in these regions and current humanitarian efforts
PERSONAL SPECIFICATION
Essential:
Educated to degree level (including current undergraduate or postgraduate students)
Excellent research and analytical skills
Ability to plan and prioritise
Excellent interpersonal, communications and presentation skills
Excellent written and spoken English (grammar in particular)
Proven administrative skills and excellent attention to detail
Proven computer literacy (Microsoft Word, Excel & PowerPoint)
Creative and confident self-starter with ambition, vision and drive to achieve targets
Desirable
Postgraduate student with specialisations in political science, peace studies (international development, conflict resolution), business administration and management, environmental sciences and management.
Previous experience or knowledge in proposal writing.
Ability to speak one of the following languages; French, German, Arabic, or Kiswahili
