Job role: Fundraising Assistant

About Human Relief Foundation (HRF)

HRF provides emergency relief aid and assistance to ordinary people caught up in extraordinary, life-threatening situations. HRF’s ultimate goal is to save and preserve life.

HRF have been changing millions of lives across the world for 25 years. We have fed the hungry, provided healthcare to those suffering, put orphans and young widows into education, and replaced dirty, unsafe water with high quality hand pumps. Human Relief foundation work is focused on four main areas: Emergency and Disaster Response and Preparedness, Development Cooperation, Conflict Transformation, and Orphan Sponsorship.

Reporting To:

Fundraising Manager

Community Fundraising

  • To assist and co-ordinate in local campaigns and fundraising/promotional activities and events
  • To establish, build and maintain relationships with key contacts – including donors, volunteers, paying particular attention to local community leaders, masjid & external organisations
  • To raise funds and awareness from and amongst: schools, businesses, community groups and the general public
  • To identify and research the local donor market’s strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats and use the findings accordingly
  • To assist in the development and implementation of local fundraising plans and budgets.

Events and Volunteers

  • Recruit and expand our volunteer base in key towns and cities, for a variety of fundraising activities, through holding stalls, advertising, making presentations and networking with community groups, job centres, volunteer centres and other agencies.
  • Welcome and induct new volunteers, providing training where required.
  • To liaise regularly with schools, colleges and universities to gain support for and maximise volunteering opportunities.
  • Manage and update volunteers database, ensuring a good rota of volunteers is maintained.
  • Prepare materials required for volunteers, including (but not limited to) presentations, volunteer posters and flyers and volunteering packs – liaising with the Marketing.
  • To establish and supervise volunteer teams (with clear roles and responsibilities for volunteers) to match fundraising activities and other duties as required by the organisation.
  • Keep in regular contact with volunteers, securing their commitment and ensuring their enthusiasm is maintained.
  • To represent HRF at events in a professional and presentable manner, and do the utmost to promote HRF
  • Establish a volunteer’s recognition scheme and develop volunteering policies and procedures.
  • Using social media, the HRF website and traditional media to promote and publicise volunteering activities, including (but not limited to): distributing leaflets, posters, adverts, banners, etc; and working with other team members within the Bradford Office and liaise with the Marketing & Communications Officer where necessary.
  • To assist in delivering HRF marketing campaigns, projects and appeals and support the fundraising team.
  • To attend, promote & raise funds for HRF at any events organised by other organisations/persons
  • To assist in fundraising events and to also independently think up ideas for fundraising events, develop, promote and stage them.

Responsibilities:

  • Reporting and regularly updating Fundraising Manager; producing and agreeing action plans, briefings and reports, focusing efforts on activity which maximises the potential for new and existing income
  • To ensure fundraising targets, in accordance with this post, are met and raise new income for the charity, manage existing fundraising relationships and sustain existing income and reduce expenditure through sourcing sponsorships
  • To ensure appropriate health and safety and other risk assessments are undertaken at the venue.
  • Recruit and lead volunteer teams for events
  • To effectively manage and prioritise a busy and varied workload, ensuring that deadlines are met
  • To travel to different towns, cities and locations to enable fundraising activities and maximise on fundraising opportunities.
  • To ensure timely communications with other colleagues, partners and suppliers/agencies, donors, volunteers and other key audiences, in accordance with the nature of the work to ensure that all stakeholders are updated
  • Assist in the development of the fundraising plan and strategy and ensure its effective implementation. Support other members of the fundraising team with tasks
  • To ensure that events are regularly updated on the company website, e-shots, social media accounts and blogs.
  • To support the charity’s campaigns, projects and appeals
  • Liaison with key suppliers and contacts, including (but not limited to) venues, sponsors, businesses, caterers, audio/visual suppliers, building effective relationships
  • Reporting and regularly updating Fundraising Manager in producing and agreeing action plans, briefings and reports, focusing efforts on activity which maximises use of our volunteer base
  • Arrange and lead volunteer teams to assist with charity activities and needs.
  • To attend events that are sponsored by HRF and hold volunteer recruitment/promotional stalls, where required
  • To effectively manage and prioritise a busy and varied workload, ensuring that deadlines are met
  • Must be able to anticipate project needs, with minimal supervision, and be willing to work occasional evenings and weekends.
  • To travel to different towns, cities and locations to enable volunteering activities and opportunities.

Job Types: Full-time 40 hours, Permanent

Working Monday to Friday but this may include Weekends and evenings, depending on the business needs

Location - Bradford

Holidays -20 days of annual leave and 8 bank holidays

Salary: Between £13,000 to £16,286 ( depending on experience )
