Charity shop manager and fundraiser 



Salary/ Holidays/ benefits 

£24,000 per annum

Full time – 40 hours a week

20 days holidays plus 8 bank holidays - Monday to Friday

We have a company contributing pension scheme, which each employee can opt in for. We also

HRF provides emergency relief aid and assistance to ordinary people caught up in extraordinary, life-threatening situations. HRF’s ultimate goal is to save and preserve life.

Human Relief Foundations have been changing millions of lives across the world for 25 years. We have fed the hungry, provided healthcare to those suffering, put orphans and young widows into education, and replaced dirty, unsafe water with high quality hand pumps. Human Relief foundation work is focused on four main areas: Emergency and Disaster Response and Preparedness, Development Cooperation, Conflict Transformation, and Orphan Sponsorship.

Key responsibilities - Store manager

  • Over seeing Volunteers and run the day-to-day store running of the charity shop
  • Lead and engage a team of Volunteers
  • Create a culture of high-performance, empowering your team to reach targets
  • Create and manage a welcoming, customer-focused environment
  • Maintain and keeping record of all receipts and banking
  • Implement all aspects of health and safety and keep a record in store.
  • Regular checks to be made and maintained
  • Ensure the smooth day to day running of the shop and be responsible for cash handling, banking and associated administration, ensuring that all till operations in accordance with
    policies and procedures and the Shop Operating Manual.
  • To manage all aspects of stock collection and preparation; ensuring that stock processing levels are sufficient to achieve required shop floor density, encouraging stock donations at all times
  • To demonstrate excellent customer service, internally and externally, always promoting
    good practice within the shop and providing guidance, feedback and coaching to the shop team as required.
  • To meet required performance standards and targets.
  • Ensuring that confidentiality is maintained at all times.
  • Maintaining a good standard of housekeeping, creating an environment that is pleasant and safe for customers, shop staff and volunteers
  • To present a positive and professional image to customers, staff and volunteers at all times, being an ambassador for Human Relief Foundation
  • Attend and undertake any relevant key training workshops, events or meetings as required.
  • To work within Human Relief Foundations policies and procedures at all times.

Key responsibilities - Fundraising

  • The Fundraising Officer will take lead responsibility on a number of fundraising events, Just giving, managing the budget and ensuring that financial targets are met, volunteers are recruited to maximise fundraising potential and take operational and financial responsibility for the event both before and after.
  • You will be highly organised, innovative and have a track record of delivering a number of fundraising events ranging from gala dinners to sporting events. You will have the proven ability to achieve results through building strong lasting relationships with individuals and organisations.
  • You will work across departments, so interpersonal skills are of high importance. You will need the confidence to deal with people at the very highest level, managing high-profile volunteers and donors with diplomacy and discretion.
  • To ensure timely communications with other colleagues, partners, sponsors and suppliers/agencies, donors, volunteers and other key audiences, in accordance with the nature of the work to ensure that all stakeholders are updated.
  • To maintain good relationships with existing business supporters and recruit new business members and volunteer participants.
  • To promote other income streams, using social media, email and direct mail to existing supporters.
  • To seek opportunities to build on the success of existing fundraising activities and explore new avenues for raising funds.
  • To work with the marketing and wider team to identify and develop opportunities to generate income.
  • To help to raise the profile of HRF in the region they are working
  • To carry out risk assessments when holding an event or physical activities
  • Monitor relevant budgets and resources, including expenses.
  • Organise and lead volunteer teams to assist with charity fundraising and development activities.
  • Coaching and supporting volunteers.
  • To undertake any other tasks, duties or projects which may arise from time to time in accordance with the level of this post.
  • To carry out mosque collections during Ramadan Taraweeh prayers and throughout the rest of the year

Experience and Skills

  • Must have experience in management
  • Must have experience in health and safety
  • Must have experience in running a team
  • Fundraising experience is preferable but not essential as training will be provided.
