Case Studies

When you choose to make a donation to one of HRF's projects or appeals, you can do so in the safe knowledge that the money that you pledge will be used to help many people in need across the globe.

Examples of where your money will be used are:

1. To bring clean drinking water to a village in desperate need, preventing the risk of infection and the need to walks miles and miles every day just for a basic human right.

2. To help give a family a home again after the destruction of war has left them without shelter.

3. To provide the elderly with the care and attention that they deserve. With your help, we can help get them the medication and treatment that they need.

4. To help families less fortunate than ourselves still enjoy the religious festivals such as Eid and Ramadhan

HRF have managed to help thousands of people world wide, and could not have done it without the help and support of it's donors and volunteers, so thank you. Here are some 'success stories'.

1. Last year HRF distributed 175000 Kilograms of meat to the poor and needy families throughout the world which means that approximately 1200 families benefited and enjoyed the blessings of Eid

2. Our volunteers keep on running! One of them, Mr Ali, ran the London and Edinburgh Marathons. He raised over £5,000 for the orphans in Iraq and Kashmir.

3. Over the last 3 years we've spent over £1 million in the Muzaffarabad region of Kashmir. We're continuing to support communities in this area, and we're in it for the long term.

Food Distribution Project

Enough food is produced globally to feed the planet but even so more than one billion people go to bed hungry every night. Hunger is a leading cause of death, killing more than AIDS, tuberculosis and malaria combined.

This means more than one billion people live in the world today with no sustainable food source and are unsure of when they will next have access to food.

At HRF the delivery of food to the hungry is a priority.

In over an eighteen years history we have delivered food to some of the world's poorest people: in Afghanistan, Pakistan, India, Bangladesh, Iraq, Iran, Palestine, Sudan, Ethiopia, Bosnia, Somalia, Kosovo, and Chechnya and many more.

Food delivery can take a number of forms. HRF responds to emergencies by delivering essential food items directly to the heart of the community.

Following earthquakes in Pakistan, unrest in the former Yugoslavia, violence in Sudan and war in Iraq, HRF has reacted swiftly by providing non-perishable foods to vulnerable and displaced communities. Tined foods, grain and rice provide essential sustenance for people during periods of emergency. HRF ensures that contingency funding is available throughout the year in order to react to emergencies in the best possible way.

Our food distribution programme is carried out on a larger scale during the months of Ramadhan and Qurbani. Please select the options on the Project's page for more details. These projects are usually run seasonally and allow the donor to give money to the poor on an annual basis.
